In A.O.M 49,607, the great explorers Elcan Amerigo and Marco Magellan, along with Pundit Akṣapāda Brihaspati, begin their expedition from the northernmost coast of Granterra. They arrive five years later at the harbor of Thessa in the Kingdom of Neisa, proving the existence of the north pole and the south pole.

Their discovery prompts the Great Council of Philosophers in Atlantis to endorse Brihaspati's 'Spherical Planet' theory in A.O.M 49,420. However, the studies performed over the next two centuries reveal inconsistencies with Brihaspati's theory.

The Great Council of Philosophers sends out two of their best explorers from Thessa with naval escorts in A.O.M 49,632. Cabot Fiennes and Alvares Cortes sail westward. Twelve years have passed when Fiennes returns to Thessa. They expected him to circumvent Elyzia and arrive from the east, but his ship's sails are seen approaching from the west, the course of his departure. Fiennes tells them the lands get fiercer and darker the farther east they sail. They expected to reach Thessa in five years, but the end never came even after six years. They decided that Fiennes would return to convey their findings to the Council, while Cortes sailed on. His messages keep coming from the Uncharted West to the Tower of Athenon, where the Great Council of Philosophers convenes, until the explorer's death somewhere between A.O.M 49,810 - A.O.M 49,820.

The Council send another explorer, Isabella Pizarro, eastward, but she never returns. When they send a tracking expedition after her, it comes to light that she had stopped last at a port in Yutong to resupply. There are signs of her making landfall at a desolate island farther east. No other letters come from the expedition after that.

The Great Council of Philosophers abandon the 'Spherical World' theory and put forth the 'Infinite World' theory.

Their findings prompt them to revise the Tome of Creation and Fall.
